American prisoners were not considered POW's : The one thing you never want to see ever is the name of a family member on a list of 8,000 people (out of perhaps 11,000 be some estimates, and 17,000 by others) who were left to die on one of the prison ships. The one thing that leaves you with hope is finding the name of a family member whom you know survived. Supply Clap did not survive. I'm still looking for even one family survivor. Every now and again, I go through the list, finding more family names, but without the courage to verify who are family, and who lived to go home. LAtely some have come out that dealt with the Tories and Revolutionaries as separate from the big names. This book details life from the viewpoint pf prisoners and offers a really fascinating bit of insight and information.
